Diriyah tennis fans can look forward to seeing special players and unbelievable matches. World number 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas is the next player to confirm his participation in the Diriyah Tennis Cup presented by Saudi Aramco from December 8-10, 2022.
Tsitsipas is one of those players who combine elegance and intensity in their style of play, creating a very special atmosphere. He is the top-ranked Greek of all time and achieved his career-high No. 3 for the first time in August 2021. He is competing in the Diriyah Tennis Cup presented by Saudi Aramco mainly for personal reasons, he reveals: „It was on my bucket list to visit Saudi Arabia for travel and I’m happy they are introducing a tournament like the Diriyah Tennis Cup in the heart of Saudi Arabia, so I can also play tennis there. Having good players and opponents around me is the perfect preparation for the upcoming season.“
Last week he showed his fantastic form during the NITTO ATP Finals in Torino (Italy). After his loss against Novak Djokovic he defeated Diriyah Tennis Cup champion Daniil Medvedev in a thrilling encounter in the third set tiebreak, but didn’t make it to the semifinal after losing to Andrey Rublev.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will join defending champion Daniil Medvedev, Olympic champion Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz, Cameron Norrie, Nick Kyrgios, Dominic Thiem and Stan Wawrinka in Saudi Arabia. From December 8-10, a total of 12 players will compete at the Diriyah Tennis Cup presented by Saudi Aramco, with total prize money of 3 million US dollars to play for. More players will be announced in the coming weeks.
